I approach therapy as a relationship we build together. I don’t have the answers-but you do. You are the expert of your own life. But life can be loud and overwhelming. Therapy is the quiet space in between the loud moments. In sessions you will always be accepted unconditionally as you are. My approach focuses on the humanistic perspective where you guide the process at your pace in the safe haven we build together. Sessions are your time to use as you need, to explore who you are in the present moment, who you were in your past and who you wish to be in the future. Melissa Goldstein, LCSW Experience: Many people struggle with anxiety which keeps them awake at night. Some have thoughts that run through their mind over and over again like a broken record. Many of us are heartbroken over our children suffering from one or more issues either emotional or social. They may be overwhelmed with school or have trouble interacting with other kids.

Some children have trouble speaking to family at home, or to teachers or classmates at school. There are many children who are distressed by intrusive thoughts that limit their ability to cope or engage in life. They spend their time ruminating over the same problems or negative thoughts. Some avoid or engage in behaviors over and over again that may only provide temporary relief, or none at all. And of course, so many children, and adults as well are anguished by paralyzing phobias that limit their full participation in the activities of life.

If you, or a child of yours, suffer from any of these conditions and you are seeking help, I have over 13 years of experience working, successfully, with people like you. And I am ready to listen to, and help you as well.

Melissa has had extensive experience helping children, adolescents and adults who suffer with anxiety, selective mutism, school refusal, all types of OCD, emetophobia (fear of throwing up) and more.

She works with health care providers, along with parents and teachers of younger patients to gather the best possible picture and come up with therapies and possible solutions to the issues confronting the child.

Melissa believes in using a collaborative approach to help her clients. She creates a non-judgmental and caring space where all clients are encouraged to participate in their treatment planning. Treatment modalities include individual, family and group therapy.

Melissa has a broad and diverse background working with various age groups who face a variety of challenges. She obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work from Adelphi University.
