Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy with Licensed Practitioners. Our practice is known for our warm, compassionate, caring professionals who will make you feel comfortable and cared for as you embark on your journey toward greater mental health awareness, peace, and happiness.

Specializing in Neurodiverse Behavior Challenges, Parent Workshops, and ADHD Across the Lifespan I am a Mental Health Counselor–Limited Permit (MHC-LP), Certified School Counselor, and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) dedicated to helping children, teens, and families find balance, confidence, and emotional growth. My approach blends clinical counseling and educational expertise to create practical, compassionate interventions that support progress both at home and in school.

I specialize in working with neurodiverse populations, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, and social-emotional challenges. My style is warm, structured, and strengths-based—helping clients and parents understand behavior through a lens of skill-building rather than shame or blame.

In addition to individual counseling and behavioral support, I lead parent workshops that empower families with tools to navigate emotional regulation, communication, and positive behavior strategies. I also hold certification in ADHD treatment across the lifespan, providing evidence-based support for children, adolescents, and adults managing attention and executive functioning challenges.

My work is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and a belief that meaningful change happens when families feel understood, supported, and equipped with the right tools to thrive.

I look forward to working together!

If we were able to read people’s minds, I think a word that might come up (more often than we care to admit) is struggle. Maybe it’s your day-to-day battle of just getting up in the morning, or a deep hurt you’ve felt that just keeps on hurting. Maybe it’s navigating a stormy sea of relationships, or an overwhelming fear that you’re stuck and just not where you want to be in your life. We all struggle, and there are certainly times where we can manage our struggles alone. However, there may be times where we need a little help and understanding. This is where therapy comes in.

In therapy, I work with you in creating a space that will allow you to explore well, in simplest terms, you. You will get more in touch with your thoughts and emotions. You will dive deep into your experiences and your relationships with others, both past and present. You will develop an awareness of your unconscious patterns that guide your actions and explain why it is you do the things you do. Most importantly, you will come to understand your struggles, but also what you can do to bring about change in your life.

This change might be gradual and will take time, but change is a process. Nevertheless, change and a deeper understanding of yourself and those around you is possible. You just need to take that first step. In time, those struggles that we all face become a little more bearable, and we’re not struggling alone.

About Me:

My name is Edrean or “Ed” for short. I received my Master’s (M.Phil) in Clinical Psychology from CUNY City College and I am currently working on my Doctorate (Ph.D) in Clinical Psychology. My mode of therapy is psychodynamic-relational, but integrates humanist, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and multicultural perspectives. I approach each client with a deep sense of empathy and an understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to a session. Each client is unique and my aim is to listen, to build trust, and to work together with the client in creating a time and space that would be most helpful to being their best selves.

I have experience working with adults from all walks of life in individual talk-therapy. As a person of color myself, I have a lot of interest in understanding racial and diverse experiences and how that might fit into a client’s day-to-day life. I have worked with children (starting 8+) in play therapy, adolescents in talk therapy, and parents in bridging understanding between themselves and their children. I truly believe in the power of play both in children, and even the playfulness with which we live our lives as adults.

As a tutor and occasional adjunct professor, I enjoy working with students and have worked before in college counseling settings. I also have experience with conducting psychological and neuropsychological assessments across lifespan.

Besides my passion for psychotherapy, I enjoy running, playing my guitar, and brewing a good cup of coffee.
