Sometimes getting help feels like the wrong thing to do. You may wonder, “Is something wrong with me?” or feel like your family might not understand or support you. But asking for help doesn’t mean something’s wrong, it means you’re ready to prioritize yourself and move forward. For over nine years, I’ve worked in the New York City Department of Education, supporting students across all age groups. I’ve helped students through depression, emotional outbursts, and moments when they didn’t know what came next. I’ve mentored many of them into their next steps—whether that meant college, trade school, or even the military. I also had the opportunity to work overseas on U.S. military bases, supporting students academically and emotionally through tutoring and connection. Now, as a therapist-in-training, I focus on helping people who feel stuck with depression, lack of motivation, or who feel like they just can’t move forward. I use a combination of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to work through these challenges. Together, we’ll create realistic mini goals that build momentum toward your bigger goals. My approach is simple: we’ll work side-by-side to identify what’s holding you back and figure out the next best steps. You don’t need to have it all figured out to start therapy. You just need to be open to the idea that things can get better and I’m here to help guide you there.

My aim is to help each of my clients gain greater understanding of themselves and develop skills and techniques to help them meet their goals. I place special emphasis on the relationship I have with each of my clients and getting to know them in a meaningful and collaborative way. Together we will discover which therapeutic interventions feel right for you and help you move forward in getting to know your true self. My therapeutic approach is heavily influenced by Emotion Focused Therapy, as well as Psychodynamic and Attachment Theory. I also integrate directive, evidence-based interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to empower clients with skills and techniques that help them succeed and function optimally in their daily lives. Experience: Katherine is a Master’s-level School Psychologist (MSEd) and a Doctoral Candidate at Pace University toward a PsyD in School and Clinical Psychology. Katherine has experience working with children and adults in a range of therapeutic settings, including outpatient therapy, middle school, high school, day treatment programs, and inpatient hospitals. Katherine is currently employed as a Psychologist 1 at a children’s psychiatric hospital in New York State. Katherine’s specialty areas include difficulties with attachment relationships, behavioral disorders, identity and self-esteem concerns, personality disorders, psychosis, and non-suicidal self-injury. Women’s Issues More than just my work: I love my family, friends, and my Shih-Poo puppy. I love fresh air and sunlight. I love organized chaos. I love vibrant colors and art. I love being around children who have not yet been influenced by social expectations and unapologetically speak their truth. I love when I am able to connect with others. “Our feelings are our most genuine paths to knowledge.” – Audre Lorde
